Planning your switch
You've decided on JobTread. Now let's time the move right.
The smoothest switches from Buildertrend are planned around your current contract and your team's schedule. Here's how we help you get the timing right.
Know your renewal date.
Check your current contract for when it renews and what notice it needs, so you can plan your move around it.
Give yourself runway.
Most of our migrations take 3 to 4 weeks. Starting early means you're live in JobTread with time to spare.
Move while you have full access.
Every job, budget and file is easiest to move while your current account is still active.
Keep your team working.
Your team keeps working while your history moves over, and the final cutover runs over a weekend.
Tell us your target go-live date and we'll build the migration plan around it.
The export problem
Buildertrend exports spreadsheets.Your business lives inside the jobs.
Buildertrend lets you export lists to Excel. That gets you spreadsheets, not a working JobTread account, and the parts that matter most come out in pieces.
Budgets come in two formats
Older accounts can still have open jobs on Buildertrend's Legacy Budget, while newer jobs use the Job Costing Budget. Your numbers don't come out in one consistent format.
Files are split up by job and type
Documents, photos and videos sit in separate folders for each job. Files attached to daily logs are automatically filed into separate "attached" folders.
Selections are tied to the budget
Allowances live in the estimate or come in through change orders, and approved selections update the job's budget. Move them as separate spreadsheets and the numbers stop matching.
JobTread onboarding covers the basics
JobTread imports customers, vendors, cost codes and templates. Per JobTread, the data inside your jobs is a paid, hourly add-on, and its team can't sign into Buildertrend for you.
That's the part we handle. With your authorization, we pull your data out of Buildertrend ourselves and rebuild every job inside JobTread, mapped down to every field and number, then verify it with you before go-live.

No. With your authorization, we pull the data out of Buildertrend ourselves, so there are no spreadsheets or file downloads for your team to wrangle.
Can't I just export my data from Buildertrend myself?
You can export a lot of it, but budgets can come in two different formats, files are split up by job and type, and selections are tied to the budget. None of it loads into JobTread as is. We turn it into clean, linked JobTread records.
Doesn't JobTread's onboarding team move my Buildertrend data?
JobTread's onboarding team can import core lists like customers, vendors, cost items, cost codes and schedule templates. Per JobTread, moving the data inside your jobs, such as budgets, documents, files and daily logs, is a paid, hourly add-on, and its team can't sign into Buildertrend for you. That's where we come in.
How long does a Buildertrend to JobTread migration take?
Most take 3 to 4 weeks from start to finish. The final cutover takes a couple of days and runs over a weekend.
When should I start my Buildertrend to JobTread migration?
